New England women’s head coach Phil Neville may struggle to see out the year in his role, according to our traders.

Neville was appointed as Lionesses boss on Tuesday. But he attracted criticism after controversial past comments from his Twitter account came to light.

He’s now just 5/4 to be sacked before the end of the year.

This is Neville’s first managerial role. The former Manchester United defender has previously been a coach at United, Valencia and England Under-21s.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Neville might have apologised, but his managerial role is on a tightrope as far as the odds are concerned.”

England women’s next fixture is against France on 1 March.
