Ross Barkley’s World Cup odds halved after Chelsea speculation

Ross Barkley’s chances of being included in England’s World Cup squad could get a major boost if his move to Chelsea goes through.

The Everton midfielder is understood to be on the verge of signing for the Blues. And that’s led our traders to cut his odds of being in Gareth Southgate’s 23-man squad to 9/4 (was 9/2).

Injury has prevented the 24-year-old from making a single appearance so far this season. But a good run of form for Chelsea would certainly catch Southgate’s eye.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Barkley’s imminent move to Chelsea has sparked our traders into action. They reckon this move will kick-start his campaign – in perfect time for Southgate to give him a spot on the plane to Russia.”

Barkley made his Everton debut in 2011, and has made 179 appearances for the Toffees. The midfielder also has 22 England caps.
