Arsene Wenger odds-on to leave Arsenal before next season begins

Arsenal’s gloomy season took another knock on Sunday, as the Gunners were easily beaten 3-0 by Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. And the latest odds suggest that could be the nail in the coffin for Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners boss is 5/6 to leave before the opening day of next season. That’s the shortest price a ‘Wexit’ has been so far in 2018.

Wenger’s current crop are 27 points off the Premier League’s summit, and 10 points below the Champions League spots. They’re now as long as 18/1 for a top-four finish.

The one way the Frenchman may salvage his job is by leading his side to Europa League Glory, which is priced up at 5/1.

As for a miraculous title tilt this season, that seems virtually beyond possibility – with odds of 1000/1 for Arsenal to win the Prem.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It won’t be long before the Wenger Out banners are back on display at the Emirates, and the latest odds suggest the board may finally take action.”

The Gunners face Man City again in Thursday night’s Premier League clash. An Arsenal win at 13/4 could help ease the pressure for now, but another result like the one at Wembley could see Wenger’s exit odds shrink again.
