FA Cup tips: Back a home win when Chelsea host Hull

Published:

Chelsea have enjoyed plenty of FA Cup success in the recent past, and will hope to continue that run when they host Hull City in the fifth round.

With the Blues stumbling in the Premier League and an upcoming clash with Barcelona in the Champions League, the FA Cup is comparatively stress-free for under-fire boss Antonio Conte.

Chelsea are the 1/5 favourites, with the draw 11/2 and Hull priced up at a lengthy 16/1.

Conte’s men cruised to a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Monday night, and that should have them back on track for this cup tie.

Hull have more pressing concerns too as they look to avoid slipping into League One.

The Tigers have won just four of their last 20 matches, and they’ve yet to face Premier League opposition in the cup.

Chelsea can use this clash to build up momentum before they host Barcelona on Tuesday.

Conte still has a number of injury concerns, but even so the 8/13 on Chelsea -1 handicap looks good.  They’re 8/5 on the -2 market.

Olivier Giroud is likely to get another start in his fledgling Chelsea career.

The Frenchman has settled in well since making the short hop from Arsenal last month, and is 12/5 to score first.

Willian could prove a shrewd option. The Brazilian is often one of Conte’s go-to men when it comes to the cup games.

And with his dazzling set-piece ability, looks a good shout at 4/1 to net first or 13/10 anytime.
