Millwall v Cardiff: Will it be another tight affair between these two?

Cardiff City head to Millwall tonight knowing that victory will push the Bluebirds into the Championship promotion places. But they’ll have their work cut out at The Den.

The hosts are unbeaten at home in nine games, winning five of those. However, they head into this game on the back of last weekend’s surprise FA Cup exit to Rochdale.

Historically, this hasn’t been a high-scoring game. In fact, four of the last seven meetings have finished 0-0, while only one side has netted in the other three.

However, both sides have been in good goalscoring form of late. The Bluebirds have scored eight times in their last three league matches, with midfielder Callum Paterson bagging three of those.

As for Neil Harris’ men, they’ve found the net in seven of their last eight matches – including a 2-2 draw with table-topping Wolverhampton Wanderers.

If there is to be a flurry of goals, chances are they’ll come after the break. Thirteen of the last 17 in Millwall’s league games have come after the interval.

With the Head-to-Head record so even, it’s hard to pick a favourite out of the two sides. But Cardiff have won three meetings to the Lions’ one, in the nine clashes this decade.

One interesting tidbit lies in the Bluebirds’ Friday-night hex? They’ve lost four of their last five Friday evening games – a stat which could give the hosts plenty of confidence.
