Three Billboards odds slashed ahead of Oscars ceremony

Published:

Ahead of Sunday’s showdown in Hollywood, we can reveal that Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, is pulling ahead as the clear favourite to land the Best Picture.

And its odds have been slashed into just Even Money following a wager of £10,000 placed on Tuesday morning.

The Shape of Water follows as the closest rival in the market to cause an upset at 13/8, but thereafter the bookies rate the films as outsiders with odds of 10/1 or higher.

Gary Oldman (1/25) and Frances McDormand (1/12) find themselves as the long odds-on favourites to land the Best Actor and Actress awards respectively.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “As the Oscars edge closer Three Billboards is moving further ahead as the favourite for the Best Picture award.

And punters are becoming increasingly confident, laying down huge five-figure sums on it emerging victorious. However, Moonlight managed to spring a surprise on La La Land last year, so it will be interesting to see if lightning strikes twice.”

She added: “It would be the biggest upset in Oscars betting history if Gary Oldman missed out on the Best Actor award.”
