West Ham likely to continue pursuit of Stoke linchpin Joe Allen

West Ham United may have secured the signing of Jordan Hugill and loan capture of Joao Mario in January, but many Irons fans were still disappointed by the club’s business.

Especially so when reports emerged today confirming the club had bid for Stoke City ace Joe Allen.

But the view from our trading floor is that the Allen move could well take place in 2018. We make it 6/4 for the player to leave the Potteries for the Irons in the Summer window.

The Irons are lacking a classy-yet-tenacious midfield presence with Premier League experience – and Allen absolutely fits the bill.

As well as having 187 Prem games under his belt, the former Liverpool man was also one of the stars of Wales’ Euro 2016 campaign.

For Allen’s park, those odds of a move to East London could nosedive if his current side, Stoke City, find themselves relegated to the Championship.

As it stands, the Potters are 6/4 for the drop – and currently sit in 18th place.

Next up for West Ham is the visit of Watford on Saturday.

Boss David Moyes will be looking to quell frustration within the London Stadium faithful, and it’s 13/10 the Irons pick up a morale-boosting win.
