Wigan v Man City: Pep’s men to produce a low-scoring victory

Manchester City continue their bid for an unprecedented quadruple with Monday’s FA Cup fifth round trip to Wigan Athletic. And with a Carabao Cup final later in the week, Pep Guardiola is likely to play a second-string side at the DW Stadium.

Wigan are pretty solid at home, keeping 10 clean sheets in their last 12 at the DW. But Paul Cook’s men have gone off the boil slightly in recent weeks, losing their last two games – and scoring once in the process.

With the Latics defensively strong but dipping in form, we like Man City to Win and Under 2.5 Goals at 29/10. Of the last 12 meetings between these clubs, eight have produced two goals or fewer.

Of the last 10 meetings, the Sky Blues have won eight – all of them accompanied by a clean sheet. City to Win to Nil at 4/5 seems a pretty safe bet, especially with the Latics losing their shooting boots.

Pep Guardiola’s men have led at the break in six of their last seven games, and First-Half Result: Man City can be backed at 4/7. However, the more ambitious can back Guardiola’s men to lead after 15 minutes at 5/2.

In the goalscorer markets, it’s hard to look past Kevin De Bruyne. The 26-year-old has scored in three domestic cup games on the trot.

He’s 7/4 to Score Anytime, while it’s 6/1 for De Bruyne to Score First – something we’ve already seen five times this season.

If you do fancy Wigan to get something, then it could come courtesy of Will Grigg. The Northern Ireland striker has scored four times in his last five Latics games, including an FA Cup brace against West Ham United. He’s 11/4 to Score Anytime.

In the match betting, Man City are 2/13 for victory, with the Draw 13/2 and a historic Wigan win priced up at 20s.
