The new Formula One season roars into life this weekend, with Lewis Hamilton favourite to win the curtain-raising Australian Grand Prix.

Hamilton goes into the campaign as the reigning champion, having secured his fourth world crown last October in Mexico.

And the Brit will begin 2018 as Evens favourite to win the opener in Melbourne.

Sebastian Vettel gave a good fight last season before a dismal few races in the Autumn.

The German is also seeking a fifth championship, and is 7/2 to win Down Under for only the third time in his career.

Plenty of attention will be on Dutch superstar Max Verstappen. The Red Bull ace ended 2017 in great form.

The 20-year-old is 4/1 to take the victory in Oz.

His team-mate Daniel Ricciardo is 13/2 to take a popular win on home soil, with Hamilton’s Mercedes ally Valtteri Bottas 15/2.

The Silver Arrows looked strong in testing last month. Hamilton is 4/5 to take pole position on Saturday, while he’s 9/2 to be King of the Road and take Pole, the Fastest Lap and the Race Win.

Further down the pack, Fernando Alonso is 7/4 to finish in the top six in his McLaren-Renault and 12/1 to secure his first podium result since 2014.

Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen raised eyebrows with some impressive speed in the Haas. There’s 11/4 for Grosjean to finish in the top six, with Magnussen 3/1.

There’s often a first-lap incident or two in Australia, and 1/4 says the safety car makes an appearance during the Grand Prix.

And as for this year’s championship, Hamilton is 4/6 favourite, with Vettel 7/2 and Verstappen 11/2.
