Motherwell v Celtic: Both sides likely to find the net at Fir Park

Fir Park - Motherwell

Celtic head to Fir Park on Sunday as 1/3 favourites to defeat Motherwell. But the Hoops just about scraped a point on their last visit to this part of Lanarkshire.

So, what will the latest meeting between this pair throw up?

Goals certainly look likely. Both sides found the net in each of the last two meetings, and our odds make it Evens for Both Teams to Score in this weekend’s clash.

One man who tends to make a big impact in this fixture is James Forrest.

The 26-year-old has netted four times in as many meetings with the Steelmen. It’s 2/1 for Forrest to Score and Celtic to Win, while he’s 8/1 to net two or more goals.

The Well have registered in 10 of their last 12 matches in all competitions. Four of those have come from Craig Tanner. The former Plymouth Argyle man is 14/1 to Score Anytime.

However, while they’ve generally been good for a goal or two, Motherwell have lost three of their last six league matches. A Hoops Win and BTTS is available at odds of 2/1.

While an away win is likely, the Well aren’t a side who lose heavily at home.

They haven’t lost any game by more than two goals since February 2017. So even if the visitors win, the Motherwell +3 handicap at 1/3 could come in once again.

As far as lively longshots go, Celtic to Win From Behind is 8/1. Brendan Rodgers’ men have trailed and gone on to win in two of their last six league games.

They also came from 2-0 down to win at Fir Park in December 2016.

While the Hoops are 1/3 for maximum points, it’s 4/1 for the draw and 9/1 for Motherwell to grab victory.
