Tuesday’s Cheltenham Festival four-timer could see bookies lose £20m

| 12.03.2018

Day One of the Cheltenham Festival could be the costliest in history according to Ladbrokes.

With punters across the country getting behind the four-timer of Getabird, Footpad, Buveur D’Air, and Apple’s Jade, our traders are bracing themselves for a monstrous pay-out.

If the four-timer lands, Ladbrokes say it will cost the industry in the region of £20million.

Supreme favourite, Getbird, is currently the firms’ biggest liability of the week, while Arkle favourite Footpad isn’t too far behind.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “We’ve had our fair share of disastrous Tuesdays at the festival and this year it could be the biggest one yet.

Hot favourites Getabird, Footpad, Buveur D’Air, and Apple’s Jade all looking really solid. We will be desperate for one of them to do us a favour.”

**The nightmare four-timer:

Getabird in the Supreme – 6/5

Footpad in the Arkle – 11/8

Buveur D’Air in the Champion Hurdle – 1/2

Apple’s Jade in the Mares Hurdle – 8/13
