How the bookies are calling Amir Khan v Phil Lo Greco

Amir Khan is back from a two-year hiatus and fights Phil Lo Greco this Saturday night in Liverpool on his return to the ring.
Khan hasn’t fought since a vicious knockout loss to Saul Canelo Alvarez in 2016. And this will be the Bolton native’s first fight on British soil for five years.
But what can we expect from the former unified light-welterweight champion? Has he still got what it takes to cause a stir in the boxing world?
We asked our sweet science expert Tommy Young for his thoughts on Khan and the match-up…
Ladbrokes News: Tommy, tell us about Amir Khan. Will he be right after the Canelo pounding?
Tommy Young: Yeah, I think so. Khan was the big outsider that night, stepping up in weight to take on a pound-for-pound contender.
And while he boxed well he couldn’t stay away for the whole fight. Once Canelo caught him in the 6th-round it was lights-out, which is what pretty much everyone expected to happen.
LN: This Lo Greco fella – is he any use?
TY: Well this fight is back at welterweight and Lo Greco is not in the same league as Canelo, or Khan for that matter. And the prices reflect that with Khan 1/33 to take the win and just 1/3 to win inside the distance.
It should be an easy night’s work for Khan. The potential banana skin is – as everyone knows – that Khan is chinny. But I don’t think Lo Greco has the tools to get to him. And even if he does, he’s not a big hitter by any stretch. Even Khan should be able to handle his power.
LN: So, basically Lo Greco doesn’t have a hope?
TY: I wouldn’t say that, exactly. The only person to stop Lo Greco is Errol Spence Jr., who UK fight fans will remember as the conqueror of Kell Brook.
Spence has stopped 20 of his 23 opponents so far and there is no shame in falling victim to his power. I think that Lo Greco is pretty solid.
Khan clearly isn’t as big a hitter as Spence with just 19 of his 31 wins coming by knockout. I think there might be a bit of value in Khan taking the win on points.
LN: Lovely stuff as always, Tom. So, give us your bets…
TY: I’m keeping this pretty simple and looking for some nice prices. I’m going Khan to win on points at 5/2.
And then, in a more solid-looking bet, I’m backing Khan to win After Round 8 at 5/6.
