Premier League Picks: Arsenal and Burnley likely to bag victories

| 20.04.2018

The Premier League shares the billing with FA Cup action this weekend. But there are still a handful of cracking top-flight ties on the agenda, with big implications at both ends of the table.

Four of the bottom five are in action, with time running out for West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Burnley continue their tussle for sixth spot – with departing Gunners boss Arsene Wenger desperate to go out on a high.

West Brom v Liverpool (Saturday, 12:30pm)

The Baggies pulled off a shock 1-0 victory at Old Trafford last weekend. Can they repeat the feat against Jurgen Klopp’s men; or was it purely a one-off?

Despite the Reds’ attacking prowess, this tends to be a low-scoring fixture. None of the last four meetings at The Hawthorns have produced more than two goals. It’s Evens for Under 2.5 Goals again on Saturday.

In the last nine Head-to-Heads, only once has a side won by more than a single goal. However, the in-form visitors should prove too strong for the Baggies.

It’s 6/1 for a 1-0 Liverpool victory, while Klopp’s charges are 5/4 to Win and Under 3.5 Goals in the game. Brazilian ace Roberto Firmino has scored in the last two games, and is 2/1 to make the net bulge again in the West Midlands.

Watford v Crystal Palace (Saturday, 3:00pm)

The Hornets appear to have one eye on the beach at present. After guaranteeing safety, they’ve slipped down the table – taking one point from five games, and shipping 13 goals in the process.

Visitors Crystal Palace would leapfrog the Hornets were they to win at Vicarage Road. And they’ve certainly got the upper hand in this fixture, with three wins and a draw in four meetings.

Victory for Palace is 29/20, while the Eagles are 3/1 to Win and Over 2.5 Goals in the game. Meanwhile, it’s 3/4 for Both Teams to Score – something we’ve seen in four of the last five meetings.

Arsenal v West Ham United (Sunday, 1:30pm)

There’s likely to be an emotional air at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, following Arsene Wenger’s announcement that his roughly 300-year stint as Arsenal boss is finally coming to an end.

That could well spur his players onto victory – not that they need too much help on home turf, anyway. The Gunners have won five successive games on their own patch, four of those by a margin of two or more goals.

It’s 8/15 for an Arsenal win, while the -1 handicap on the hosts is 7/5. In the goalscorer markets, it’s hard to look past Aaron Ramsey.

The Welshman has netted seven times in eight games, including a hat-trick against Everton. He’s 7/4 to Score Anytime, while Ramsey to Score Two or More Goals is priced up at 9/1.

Stoke City v Burnley (Sunday, 1:30pm)

Sean Dyche’s Clarets are eyeing up a fourth successive away win this weekend. And they could well get it against a Stoke side who haven’t tasted victory in 10 games.

Burnley have also won three and drawn one of their last five meetings with the Potters. It’s 12/5 for a Clarets victory, while it’s 17/4 for Burnley to Win to Nil against a side who’ve scored just three goals in six games.

New Zealand hitman Chris Wood has been in tip-top form of late, chalking up five goals in six outings. Wood to Score and Burnley to Win is available at odds of 9/2, while he’s 3/1 to break the deadlock.

Plus, keep an eye out for a full preview of Sunday’s 3:30pm clash, as Manchester City host Swansea City.
