Can LeBron James lead the Cavs to the NBA title?

After a LeBron James-inspired 4-0 sweep of the Toronto Raptors, the Cleveland Cavaliers are in the NBA Eastern Conference finals for the fourth straight season.

Just over a week ago, the Cavs looked like they could be heading out against the Indiana Pacers in the first round.

They’re now 2/5 favourites to win the Eastern Conference and reach the NBA Finals. But they’re an 11/2 to shot to win the championship, behind the Golden State Warriors (5/6) and Houston Rockets (17/10).

However, anything’s possible with LeBron in this form. Could he take his hometown franchise all the way?

Team game

The 33-year-old is playing some of the best basketball of his career right now.

The Raptors had just come off the best regular season in franchise history and couldn’t get near him. LeBron scored the most points (29), assists (11 and rebounds (8) in Monday’s decisive Game Four.

This isn’t a great Cavs team. But the likes of Kevin Love and Kyle Korver are playing their part. Love’s offensive game played a key role in beating the Raptors. And Korver helps to occupy the opposition defence.

If the rest of the team do their jobs well, LeBron can make all the difference.

Delivers when it counts

The odds suggest the Warriors and Rockets would be too strong for the Cavs if they met in the Finals.

But there’s no one better in clutch moments than the 14-time All-Star.

Just look at Game 3 last week. There were seconds to go with the game tied at 103-103. But James drove forward and sunk an incredible buzzer beater to get a last-gasp win.

Everything he tries seems to be coming off right now. This may well be the veteran’s last season with the Cavs. Leaving with a surprise championship win would be the perfect way to say goodbye.
