Brazil v Switzerland tips: Swiss won’t roll over for Neymar and co

A lot has changed since Brazil faced national humiliation in the wake of their 7-1 defeat to Germany at the World Cup four years ago.

You can be sure that reverse will still be fresh in the memory for the Samba Boys. Equally they’ll be more determined than ever to get off the mark with a win against Switzerland in Group E tonight.

The good news for Tite and co. is that they always start the tournament well. Selecao have won their opening match at every World Cup dating back to 1982.

They’re odds-on at 2/5 to extend that sequence at the Rostov Arena.  Don’t expect it to be plain sailing against the Swiss, though. Adam Nawalka’s men have tasted defeat just once in their last 17 matches.

They have form for upsetting the odds in tournament openers, too. France were held in 2014 and Spain vanquished in 2010. They’re 7/1 about the win and 17/5 to get the draw.

Alternatively, you can back them on the Double Chance at 15/8.

Drilling down into the nitty gritty, we’re inclined to think this match could be all about individuals. And no-one stands out more than Neymar.

The Real Madrid star is the favourite to win the Golden Boot and 4/5 to Score Anytime here. He’s 5/2 to Score First.

Barcelona ace Philippe Coutinho has six goals in his last four matches for club and country. You can back him at 9/5 against a Swiss defence which contains new Arsenal man Stephan Lichtsteiner.

Their opponents will be looking towards wantaway Stoke City star Xherdan Shaqiri. The 26-year-old lit up the tournament in 2014 with a hat-trick as the Swiss blew away Honduras 3-0 in their final group game.

He’s 7/2 to Net Anytime against Brazil and 11/1 to Score Last against the vibrant Samba outfit.

Indeed, goals could be the order of the day between two sides who like to attack. Switzerland’s last three group games have contained 12 goals against nine for Selecao.

There’s plenty of attacking talent on show. And you can back Over 2.5 Goals at 4/5, with Over 3.5 Goals at 2/1. Brazil and Both Teams to Score is available at 12/5.
