World Cup winner in talks with Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town are reportedly locked in discussions over the signing of Erik Durm from Borussia Dortmund.
The 26-year-old is well-known to Huddersfield boss David Wagner. The pair worked closely when Wagner was in charge of Dortmund’s second-string and helped Durm progress to the first-team.
The full-back became an instrumental part of the side.
His versatility at either left or right-back allowed him to put a run together at the back end of the 2013/14 season and force himself into the Germany’s World Cup in 2014.
He went on to make another 18 Bundesliga appearances the year after the success in Brazil.
Durm even found a place at left wing – where he played during his junior career.
Injuries have seen his progress stall in the last few years.
And there has been a lot of upheaval since he last put a run together in the 2016/17 campaign.
Former boss Jurgen Klopp took Liverpool to two European finals, Thomas Tuchel moved on and Dortmund now have their fourth manager since October 2015.
Ex-Borussia Mochengladbach boss Lucien Favre is now in charge. The 60-year-old has a proven record of revitalising careers and bringing through youth.
Durm is now fully-fit and raring to go. It looks as though Wagner is pushing hard for a re-union and to get Durm back to his best.
He’s has had to do it the hard way. Starting life as a striker in the German Regionalliga for Mainz 05’s second-team.
The German has always been an opportunist and taken his chances when they’ve come around.
He knows what it takes to win on the biggest stage and will fit into the defiant and never-say-die approach that Wagner has fostered at The Terriers.
This just might be the big break he really needs and one Durm simply can’t turn down.
