Friendly fire: The major pre-season games on over the weekend

Pre-season really kicks into gear this weekend as the glamour friendlies begin with the International Champions Cup.

A host of European football’s elite are all involved(,) including the Premier League’s big guns. Manchester City and United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Tottenham are in action in the US.

We give you a rundown of who’s playing who, where, when, and what the odds are.

Man City v Borussia Dortmund, Saturday 21st July, 2:05am – Chicago

Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side begin preparations for the defence of their Premier League title with a game against Borussia Dortmund.

City are expected to be without a host of their World Cup stars. But that will give Guardiola a chance to play the likes of Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, and Leroy Sane.

Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain, Saturday 21st July, 3:05pm, Klagenfurt

Bayern v PSG is the only International Champions Cup clash not taking place in America this weekend.

The two European giants meet at Worthersee Stadion in Austria. Gianluigi Buffon is expected to make his debut for Les Parisiens.

Bayern will hand a debut to new signing Leon Goretzka. The former Schalke ace should start in central midfield.

Liverpool v Borussia Dortmund, Sunday 22nd July, 9:05pm – North Carolina

It’s a swift turnaround for BVB as they take on Liverpool at the Bank of America Stadium. The Bundesliga side will face their old coach, Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is expected to name an experimental side with new signing Alisson not yet ready to make his debut. However, Naby Keita and Fabinho are expected to play a part.

San Jose Earthquakes v Man United, Sunday 22nd July, 10:00pm – San Jose

Jose Mourinho’s side kick off their International Champions Cup campaign in a clash with San Jose Earthquakes at Levi’s Stadium.

Mourinho has opted to take a young squad on the tour, leaving at home a number of his World Cup stars.

But new signing Fred has travelled with the squad and is expected to play. As is Alexis Sanchez whose Chile team failed to appear in Russia.
