After going down last season, Swansea City are looking to return to the approach that had previously served them so well.

It’s not that long since they were held up as a model of good ownership off the pitch, while playing attractive passing football on it.

But the Swans lost their way in recent years. Now they’re back in the Championship, they’re looking to turn things around under Graham Potter.

Swansea are a 10/1 shot to finish the season as champions. They’re 10/3 to secure promotion.

Potter is a bright young coach who did very well during his time in Sweden. He took Ostersunds from the fourth tier to the last-32 of the Europa League. They even beat Arsenal at the Emirates last season. Now he faces the relentless grind of the Championship.

He’ll have to make do without the likes of Lukasz Fabianski and Ki Sung-Yeung. Wilfried Bony and the Ayew brothers could be moved on to cut costs too.

The clearout could give the South Wales club the chance to take a step back in order to take two forward.

There have been too many expensive misfits over the last few seasons. They’ve played dull football too, as the fear of relegation dwarfed all other ambitions. Potter will be expected to start entertaining the fans again.

The club’s three signings so far fit that mould. They’re all technically gifted with plenty of potential.

This could be the start of an exciting time for Swansea. They begin the season with games against Sheffield United, Preston North End and Birmingham City. A good start could really set them up for a promotion push.
