ITV Racing Tips: Will Advertise set the standard in the July Stakes?

| 12.07.2018

A super summer of flat racing continues later today with the start of the July Festival from Newmarket.

The action begins with the Group 3 Bahrain Trophy Stakes, before the July Stakes and Princess of Wales’s Stakes take centre-stage.

As always, we’re on hand to mark your card ahead of a big afternoon of racing with our ITV Racing Tips

NAP – Advertise – 2:25, Newmarket

We kick things off with the July Stakes, where Martyn Meade is taken to land the spoils with his promising sprinter, Advertise.

The son of Showcasing has impressed in both starts so far. He won on debut at Newbury before finding only the highly-impressive Calyx too good in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Those are some pretty classy form lines.

And with top jockey and Ladbrokes ambassador Frankie Dettori booked to ride, we think the two-year-old is all set to land a maiden Group prize.

NB – Giuseppe Garibaldi – 1:50, Newmarket

John Gosden has an excellent record in this race having saddled the winner in four of the last seven years. He’ll do battle with First Eleven this time around.

Yet it’s Giuseppe Garibaldi who is the focus of our attention for Aidan O’Brien.

The Galileo colt is taking a small drop in class to contest this renewal after hitting the frame in a pair of Group 2 contests at Royal Ascot and the Curragh.

His form looks smart and as the star horse in this race he should land this for O’Brien for the second time in three years.

Lively Longshot – Burdian – 3:00, Newmarket

A quick check on the market shows Buridan becoming increasingly popular with punters ahead of this afternoon’s Handicap sprint.

Richard Hannon’s raider has seen his odds cut in half for the 6f contest. And it’s easy to see why.

The three-year-old won on his handicap debut at Newmarket and followed that up with a 3½l success at Haydock on Saturday.

This is tougher under a penalty, but with the in-form Hayley Turner on board, we think the Choisir colt can hit the frame and maybe even complete the hat-trick.

ITV Racing Tips:

1:50 Newmarket – Giuseppe Garibaldi (NB)

2:25 Newmarket – Advertise (NAP)

3:00 Newmarket – Buridan (Lively Longshot)

3:35 Newmarket – Barsanti
