Man City v Dortmund tips: Pep’s champions kick off the ICC action

Mario Gotze - Dortmund

Manchester City broke nearly every record going in last season’s Premier League. And Pep Guardiola’s will be keen to keep the confidence flowing in the International Champions Cup.

They face Borussia Dortmund at Chicago’s Soldier Field in the tournament opener. But while the Citizens are the better side at full-strength, it’s BVB who have the stronger squad ahead of this one.

Citizens at half-strength

Guardiola’s side were the best-represented club at this summer’s World Cup, with 16 City players featuring in Russia. And with all but one of them playing for nations who reached the knockouts, some of their big names are now getting a well-earned rest.

By contrast, Dortmund have most of their key players available – including Maximilian Philipp and Andre Schurrle.

Factor in that BVB haven’t lost in 90 minutes in any of their four meetings with City, and they’re favourites in the match betting.

It’s 5/4 for a Dortmund win, with City 9/5 for victory. Meanwhile, there’s 12/5 for this to head to penalties.

Goals, goals, goals?

Both sides play exciting, expansive football. And that should be the same here. It’s 1/2 for Both Teams to Score, while it’s 6/10 for Over 2.5 Goals.

Leroy Sane missed out on Germany’s World Cup squad, and will want to show Die Mannschaft what they were missing. He’s 13/8 to Score Anytime, and 5/1 to be First Goalscorer.

Dortmund’s most likely scorer is the pacy Philipp at 6/4 Anytime.

In the Correct Score market, it’s 6/1 for a 1-1 Draw. Meanwhile, with a slightly stronger squad going into this one, a 2-1 Dortmund win is 8/1.
