Europa League tips: Bordeaux, Besiktas and Celtic amongst the picks
Published:It’s all or nothing in the Europa League tonight, with places in this season’s group stage up for grabs.
Ahead of an evening of entertaining and (for some) nail-biting action, we’ve got a host of top tips on some of the evening’s big clashes…
Celtic v FK Suduva
The Hoops were unlucky not to win the first leg in Lithuania, eventually coming away with a 1-1 draw. And they should be far too good for Suduva at Parkhead.
Celtic have four wins and a draw in their last five at home. A second-leg victory for the hosts is priced at 1/8.
Midfielder Olivier Ntcham notched in the reverse, and also scored a crucial goal in the Champions League knockouts against Rosenborg last night. He’s 2/1 to Score Anytime.
The visitors lost 8-1 on their previous visit to Celtic Park in 2002. And their away record in Europe since then hasn’t been much prettier. It’s 11/10 for the Celtic -2 handicap and 13/2 for a 4-0 Hoops victory.
Bordeaux v Gent
Les Girondins have started the season in hit-and-miss fashion. But their home form is hard to argue with. Sunday’s 2-1 win over AS Monaco was a fifth in six at Matmut Atlantique.
They’re 19/20 to beat Gent on the night, following a first-leg draw.
The visitors are usually good for a goal, but have managed just two clean sheets in eight games. It’s Evens for Both Teams to Score, while a Bordeaux Win and Over 2.5 Goals is a 5/2 shot.
Besiktas v Partizan Belgrade
The Turkish side are packed with European experience this season. The likes of Domagoj Vida, Pepe, Alvaro Negredo and Vagner Love are just a few of the Besiktas players who know European football inside out.
After a hard-fought draw in Serbia, Senol Gunes’ side are 4/7 for victory at Vodafone Park.
This clash is likely to be action-packed. Six of Besiktas’ last 10 home games have seen four or more goals netted. It’s 7/4 for Over 3.5 Goals once again.
The Super Lig giants have already won four games in 2018 by a 3-1 scoreline. They’re 10/1 for another 3-1 triumph on the night.
FC Ufa v Rangers
Steven Gerrard’s men have been rock-solid in Europe thus far, conceding just two goals in seven UEL fixtures – and won the first leg of this tie 1-0.
The Gers dominated a game in which Ufa had few chances and little of the ball. Ahead of the reverse, the odds make Rangers firm favourites to qualify at 2/9.
Victory on the night for Gerrard’s charges is a 9/5 shot. If they are to make it back-to-back wins over the Russian side, Alfredo Morelos could be key.
The Colombian has been lethal of late, with five goals in as many games. He’s 19/10 to find the net again at Neftyanik Stadium.
