Liverpool v Man City tips: Reds could edge high-scoring contest

| 04.10.2018

The Premier League’s title favourites meet at Anfield this Sunday, as Liverpool host Manchester City in what promises to be a thriller.

The pair can’t be split so far, with both sat level on 19 points. But having won the last three head-to-heads, Jurgen Klopp’s men are sure to be full of confidence.

Match Odds

Liverpool have been top dogs in this fixture in 2018, chalking up nine goals en route to their three victories. They’ve also won 12 of their last 14 home league games, drawing the other two.

In the Match Betting, it’s 29/20 for a Reds win. The Draw is a 5/2 shot, with the Citzens at 17/10.

Between them, these sides netted an astonishing 190 Premier League goals last term. It’s 6/4 for Over 3.5 Goals in this meeting, while Liverpool to Win and Both Teams to Score is a 3/1 shot.

Talking Tactics

Liverpool tend to be pretty consistent in their 4-3-3 set-up. And considering their recent success, boss Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to mess with the system.

Following his excellent recent displays, Daniel Sturridge could get a starting berth up front, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah out wide. Otherwise, it’ll be business as usual with Roberto Firmino up top.

The Citizens could be slightly more conservative than usual, against a Reds side with plenty of pace up top. Fernandinho is likely to operate in the holding role, in front of a back four.

Goalscorer Odds

Salah has found the net in each of the last three meetings, opening the scoring twice. He’s 5/4 to net Anytime, while the Egyptian is 4/1 to break the deadlock.

The resurgent Sturridge is 7/4 to find the net, whilst Firmino is a shade longer at odds of 2/1.

The Citizens’ most likely goal-getter is Sergio Aguero at 13/10, whilst the lightning-quick Raheem Sterling is 2/1 to net against his former employers.
