Premier League Review: Happy Hammers, Mourinho woe and super Sturridge

Liverpool and Chelsea maintained their unbeaten starts, while there was more misery for Jose Mourinho on another scintillating weekend of Premier League action.
We’ve rounded up three of the key talking points below.
Happy Hammers and miserable Mourinho
Time is running out for Mourinho at Manchester United. The Portuguese boss is now 11/10 favourite in the Sack Race following another woeful afternoon at the London Stadium.
Paul Pogba and co. were comprehensively outplayed in East London as an own-goal and strikes from Felipe Anderson and Marko Arnautovic put West Ham on their way to a 3-1 victory.
The result was worry enough for Red Devils fans. But the level of performance will give fans a more serious cause for concern. West Ham looked quicker, sharper and hungrier than the visitors.
Mourinho’s decision to leave out Alexis Sanchez, start Scott McTominay at centre-back and substitute Pogba also raised eyebrows. It’s Valencia up next for United.
A fourth home match without a win could be the final nail in the coffin for the beleaguered Portuguese boss. They’re 4/6 to bounce back with victory.
Liverpool show they’re the real deal
All hope looked lost for Liverpool on Saturday following Eden Hazard’s opener at Stamford Bridge. Try as the Reds might they just couldn’t break down Chelsea’s stubborn rearguard in West London.
That was until Daniel Sturridge pulled something straight from the top drawer with a minute to go.
The forward unleashed a rocket to rescue a 1-1 draw and preserve the visitors’ unbeaten record.
It keeps Liverpool in touch at the top of the table. More importantly it proves the new-found mentality of Jurgen Klopp’s men.
Last season the Reds crumbled at both Wembley and the Bridge. This time around they’ve taken four points from six at those venues to evidence the progress that is being made at Anfield.
More woe for Newcastle as Foxes fire again
Mourinho isn’t the only Premier League manager facing problems.
Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez is still without a win this season after another home defeat – this time to Leicester City – at the weekend.
The Foxes are upwardly mobile and now sit just three points outside the Champions League places in 12th. Our traders have an unlikely top-four tilt priced at 40/1.
For the Magpies, meanwhile, home form is becoming a serious issue.
The Toon Army have lost five of the bounce at St James’ Park. Go back further and they’ve won just five of their last 18 on home turf.
Their form at St James’ will be crucial to their survival hopes. It needs to turn soon or their odds of 11/5 to be relegated this season will continue to shorten.
