ITV Racing tips: Thomas Patrick to bring it home in the Ladbrokes Trophy?

| 30.11.2018

There’s a huge afternoon of racing on ITV tomorrow, with a six-race card from Newbury and Newcastle being served up.

Ed Chamberlin and the gang will be bringing you races from the Ladbrokes Winter Carnival, the Fighting Fifth Hurdle and more.

Stay out of the cold and dig into our tips for all six live races…

NAP: Thomas Patrick – 3:00 Newbury

The Ladbrokes Trophy chase is the showpiece event of our Ladbrokes Winter Carnival. It’ll be a fiercely-contested field, but Thomas Patrick could deliver on his top billing.

He arrives in great form, having won two of his last three races. The six-year-old gelding also won over course and distance back in March.

Tom Lacey’s chaser has the pedigree and there’s a sense that there’s still more to come.

NB: Buveur D’Air – 2:05 Newcastle

We’re in for a thrilling clash as Buveur D’Air looks to defend his title against challenges from Samcro and Summerville Boy.

Samcro is looking to bounce back from his poor Down Royal showing. Summerville Boy’s speed was clear to see on his way to victory in the Supreme Novice’s Hurdle.

But Buveur D’Air heads the betting and is on a 10-race unbeaten streak. His smooth jumping and supreme form could make the difference in this renewal.

Lively Longshot: Barters Hill – 1:50 Newbury

Barters Hill has only raced once since a serious tendon injury back in 2016, but Ben Pauling wouldn’t take any risks with his beloved eight-year-old.

If he can recapture his former glory one more time, we’ll be in for some sensational scenes at Newbury this afternoon.

ITV Racing tips:

1:50 – Newbury – Barters Hill (LL)

2:05 – Newcastle – Buveur D’Air (NB)

2:25 – Newbury – Ballymoy

3:00 – Newbury – Thomas Patrick (NAP)

3:20 – Newcastle – Ballydine

3:35 – Newbury – Lady Buttons
