Tottenham v Chelsea tips: Can Spurs take a big step forward?

| 24.11.2018

Tottenham Hotspur have a chance to show just how good they really are against Chelsea this evening.

They’ll leapfrog the Blues into third with a win. But lose at home to a top-four rival for the third time this season and they’ll fall four points behind the West Londoners. Instead of looking up the table, they could have another battle for fourth on their hands.

Even at this stage, this game feels like it could be a turning point for Spurs’ campaign. Who’s going to take the bragging rights? We’ve got all the key odds and info coming up…

Match Odds

Both league games between these sides last season were won by the away side. Chelsea are 6/4 favourites to keep that streak going.

Spurs are 17/10 to inflict the first defeat of Maurizio Sarri’s time in England. There’s 12/5 about the draw.

There tends to be goals when these two face each other. The last five meetings have produced 18 goals. Over 2.5 Goals is going for 8/11.

Talking Tactics

Mauricio Pochettino will be without several regulars, which means Juan Foyth should continue alongside Toby Alderweireld in central defence.

Christian Eriksen should be fit to feature though, while Erik Lamela’s work rate could be key against Chelsea’s dynamic play.

Sarri is unlikely to make too many changes. With Mateo Kovacic a doubt, his one big choice will be deciding between Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud up front. Morata’s recent improvement could swing it in his favour.

If Spurs can keep Jorginho quiet, it could stop the visitors from getting their passing game going.

Goalscorer Odds

Harry Kane has four goals in his last four games for club and country. We make the England captain favourite to break the deadlock here at 10/3.

Out wide, Lamela has come up with some big moments for the North Londoners this term. He’s 13/5 to score here.

Chelsea will be looking to Eden Hazard to shine, as ever. We go 7/5 that he adds to his seven league goals, with Morata at 17/10.

Marcos Alonso will be a threat from left-back too. He got a brace to secure a Chelsea victory in this fixture last season. This time he’s 5/1 to get on the scoresheet.
