Wednesday’s Champions League Tips: City, Real and Bayern make it in

Qualification could be confirmed for some clubs while the last rites will be read for others as matchday four comes to a conclusion in the Champions League.

Real Madrid and Manchester City will both be looking to strengthen their hold on their respective groups. Manchester United, meanwhile, require a win to keep up their advantage over Valencia.

We’ve previewed their clash here – and picked out the best tips from the rest of the standout ties below.

Benfica v Ajax

Our traders can barely split these Portuguese and Dutch giants. Benfica are slight favourites at 29/20, with Ajax further back at 15/8. The draw is available at 15/8.

If it’s anything like the reverse fixture in Amsterdam, it should be tight. It took Noussair Mazraoui until the 92nd minute to separate the teams that evening. It’s 5/2 for Under 1.5 Goals here.

Bayern Munich v AEK Athens

AEK have only ever won a single away match in the main stage of the European Cup or Champions League. They’re not likely to improve that run this evening at odds of 33/1.

The hosts are 1/12 outright or 4/7 to Win to Nil against the Greek side for the second CL match in a row. Roberto Lewandowski netted in Athens last time. He’s 13/10 to Score 2 or More in this one.

Manchester City v Shakhtar Donetsk

After a shock defeat in their opening group match, Man City have turned it around with two wins from two. They’ve won nine of their last 10 matches and are 1/10 to continue that run tonight.

City’s recent good form has been typified by their ability to score early on. They’ve been ahead inside 30 minutes in each of their last five matches. It’s 20/23 for that scenario to play out again, with 5/6 about them on the -2 Handicap.

Viktoria Plzen v Real Madrid

Real Madrid may have returned to winning ways in La Liga over the weekend, but Real Valladolid gave Santiago Solari’s men a real scare. The visitors rattled the bar twice in a 2-0 defeat.

That suggests Los Blancos are still there to be got at – something Plzen exposed in the reverse fixture in October. Real should prevail at 1/3, but Plzen are taken to trouble the scoresheet again.

It’s 17/10 for Real to Win and Both Teams to Score, while there’s 1/2 about Over 2.5 Goals.

CSKA Moscow v AS Roma

Roma breezed past CSKA in the Italian capital last month. They’re 19/20 to inflict the Russian club’s fourth defeat in seven matches here. Edin Dzeko should play a vital role if that’s to happen.

The ex-Man City man has netted a brace in the club’s last two CL matches. He’s 4/1 to continue that trend in Moscow, or 5/4 simply to Score Anytime. Roma are 12/5 to Win to Nil for the third European match in a row.
