Barcelona v Tottenham Tips: Another CL goalfest between this pair?

| 09.12.2018

Victory at Barcelona tonight would confirm Tottenham Hotspur’s place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

The hosts are already confirmed as Group B winners, but won’t want to give up the momentum that’s seen them win four games on the trot ahead of tonight’s clash.

So, will Barca make it five-in-a-row or can Spurs cause an upset in Catalonia?

Match Odds

Ernesto Valverde’s men have lost just once at home since August 2017, and are Evens for another win on their own patch.

Meanwhile, a Tottenham triumph is 23/10, with the Draw a shade longer at 27/10.

Spurs have been involved in some crackers recently, with three of their last five games seeing Over 3.5 Goals. A repeat of that is 6/5.

The La Liga giants cruised to a 4-2 win in the reverse at Wembley, and another round of Barca to Win and Both Teams to Score at 9/4.

Talking Tactics

The hosts could go with a front three, including Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi. With Valverde confirming that Luis Suarez won’t be involved, Munir El Haddadi could start. Tactically, it’s rare to see them switch from 4-3-3, so expect more of the same on that front.

Spurs tend to go 4-2-3-1 in Europe. Harry Kane is set to lead the line, while further back they now have the favoured centre-back duo of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld fit and available.

Goalscorer Odds

Messi has been his usual prolific self of late. He’s netted nine times in eight games, including a trio of braces. He’s 10/11 to Score Anytime, and 11/4 to rack up Two or More Goals.

Kane is a fraction longer at 11/10 Anytime. The England ace is already on 13 for the season, and scored in the reverse fixture.

Son Heung-Min’s recent form means he could prove popular at 12/5 to register. Meanwhile, Barca defender Gerard Pique has netted in four games already this term, and is 7/1 to add to his tally.
