Leicester v Man City Tips: Cracker on the cards in Carabao Cup tussle?

Published:
Jamie Vardy - Leicester

All eyes are on the King Power Stadium tonight, with Leicester City facing Manchester City in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

These two sides have won the competition a combined eight times, and each will be desperate to make it into this year’s final four.

Pep Guardiola’s men are one of Europe’s strongest sides, but face a Foxes team who are hard to handle on their own patch. Who’s set to progress tonight?

Match odds

Man City have lost just twice in all competitions this season, and they’re 1/6 to qualify by any method. Meanwhile, the Foxes are 7/2 to make it through to the semis.

The East Midlands club have netted in five of the six previous head-to-heads, and we go 20/23 for Both Teams to Score. Both tend to start strong, and it’s 29/20 for First Half: Over 1.5 Goals.

Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s men are 15/2 to win 2-1 in normal time for the third time this month.

Talking Tactics

Claude Puel is likely to go with a 4-2-3-1. The Foxes will be hoping the experienced centre-back pairing of Jonny Evans and Wes Morgan can marshal the City attack.

Further forward, Jamie Vardy and James Maddison are the key goal threats. However, the former could be rested ahead of this clash.

City are a strictly 4-3-3 side. Personnel is the only question, and following a brace at the weekend Gabriel Jesus has probably earned his place leading the line.

The fit-again Kevin De Bruyne could make his first start in over a month, following a cameo against Everton at the weekend. Meanwhile, having played every minute of City’s Carabao Cup run so far, teenage prodigy Phil Foden is likely to start again.

Goalscorer odds

While he’s not a definite starter, Sergio Aguero’s form means he heads the Anytime Goalscorer list at 4/5.

Vardy loves a goal in this fixture, with five in as many meetings with the Citizens. He’s 23/10 to net again, while the Foxes’ other joint-top scorer Maddison is a 7/2 shot.

As far as dark horses go, there could be interest in defender Aymeric Laporte. The towering defender is already on three for the season, and is 15/2 to add to that tally.
