Chelsea v Spurs Tips: No Higuain but can Blues get past Poch’s men?

Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping victories at Stamford Bridge are like London buses ahead of tonight’s Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg against Chelsea.

The North Londoners had to wait 28 years between their two most recent successes in West London, from Gary Lineker’s winner in 1990 to Dele Alli’s double in 2018.

Talking Tactics

Callum Hudson-Odoi looked like one of Chelsea’s biggest threats in the first-leg. He should get the nod again here with new arrival Gonzalo Higuain not registered in time.

Ross Barkley, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are expected to line up in behind, with the latter retaining his role further forward in the midfield three.

Opponents Tottenham may have edged passed Fulham at the weekend but they looked toothless up-front in the absence of Harry Kane. An injury to Alli in that match only exacerbates the problem.

Misfiring Spaniard Fernando Llorente could lose his place as a result, with Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela primed to start alongside Lucas Moura in a front three.

Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko are both in contention and could be recalled, while cup goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga will hope to extend his unbeaten run in the team between the sticks.

Maurizio Sarri’s men dominated the first-leg without managing to find a way through. Eden Hazard is 6/5 to change that this evening, while there’s 10/3 about the Belgian wizard scoring first.

Pedro has proved equally as threatening in recent weeks. He’s 6/4 to net his second goal in as many matches at Stamford Bridge, with Hudson-Odoi available at 21/10.

No Kane, Alli or Son Heung-Min for Spurs means the onus will fall on Moura and Eriksen. The former is a 16/5 shot, which puts him some way ahead of the 5/1 chance about the Dane.
