Man City v Liverpool tips: Can the Reds stay invincible?

Jordan Henderson - Liverpool

The big one is finally here. Some are calling this the title-decider and we’re only in January.

But one thing is for sure, tonight’s game between Manchester City and Liverpool is the most significant of the season so far.

A win for Liverpool will see their unbeaten league run continue – with arguably the most challenging  hurdle put behind them.

However, if the home side can score victory then this exciting campaign takes on a whole new dimension.

This result could have huge ramifications going forward and we’ve got all your odds ahead of this giant Premier League clash…

Match Odds

Liverpool picked up maximum points from all seven of their league games in December.

The Merseysiders are 12/5 to grab perhaps their most important victory of the season.

City lost two on the bounce last month, but bagged a much needed three points against Southampton.

Pep Guardiola will know his side simply must win and they’re 21/20 to do so.

A draw that would suit Liverpool better than Man City is 13/5.

Talking Tactics

A key to a City win could be whether Kevin de Bruyne features from the start. The Belgian playmaker has been nursing a knee ligament injury but is in contention for tonight’s game.

Fernandinho’s presence in the midfield could prove pivotal in trying to nullify Liverpool’s free-flowing attack.

Guardiola will have to decide whether he retains club captain Vincent Kompany in the starting eleven or brings in John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in defence.

Liverpool have both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip still sidelined, so Dejan Lovren should keep his place.

The most intriguing decision for Jurgen Klopp will be who starts in midfield. A trio of James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson had been a staple last season.

But the impressive Fabinho may continue in the engine room at the expense of Milner.

Goalscorer Odds

Riyad Mahrez missed a game-winning penalty at Anfield earlier in the season. The winger could feature at some point tonight and is 11/5 to score and make amends.

Sergio Aguero will be City’s chief threat in front of goal. He’s 4/1 to strike first and is the same price to notch two or more goals.

Raheem Sterling to score against his former side is 7/4.

Mohamed Salah could be the star man for Liverpool. He’s 9/2 to score and assist in the match and 12/1 to notch from outside the box.

Sadio Mane is 13/5 anytime. And after his three-goal salvo against Arsenal, Roberto Firmino is 16/1 to repeat that feat.
