Super Mario: Could Balotelli be on his way back to the Premier League?

Published:

Mario Balotelli could soon swap the French Riviera for the River Tyne this month.

The Nice forward looks set to leave with Newcastle United in the mix at 5/2, if the Italian striker favours a return to the Premier League.

He won’t have shortage of suitors if he fancies prolonging his stay in Ligue 1.

Domestic giants Marseille are the current favourites for his signature at 7/4.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Newcastle are well and truly in a relegation scrap right now but the latest odds suggest a Premier League winner may soon be on the way.”

The Toon’s Salomon Rondon has had to shoulder most of the goal scoring responsibility so far this season.

Although gaffer Rafael Benitez will be keen to snap up some more fire power to guide his team away from a relegation scrap.

Balotelli’s previous two spells in England with Manchester City and Liverpool have produced a mixed bag of results.

But he will always be remembered for being in the City team who won the league title in 2012. He even supplied the title-winning assist for Sergio Aguero’s famous goal.

Balo has had a slow start to this season in France, but after re-discovering his shooting boots at Nice – the Prem could be where he belongs.
