Wednesday’s Premier League tips: Can Liverpool go seven points clear?

After Manchester City’s slip-up last night, Liverpool can open up a seven-point lead at the top of the table tonight.

They host Leicester City in a game that could define the title race.

Elsewhere, there’s a huge game at the bottom of the table as Southampton take on Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur are also looking to get back on track against Watford. And Chelsea travel to the South Coast to face Bournemouth.

Before it all gets underway, have a gander at our odds…

Liverpool v Leicester (8:00pm)

The Reds are 1/4 to get a crucial win. However, they could be without a recognised right-back, while Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho are both doubts.

That should give Leicester plenty of encouragement. The Foxes are back at 11/1, though they have won two of the last five meetings.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are winning matches, but they’ve only kept one clean sheet since the turn of the year. It’s 15/8 for Liverpool to win and Both Teams to Score.

The Merseysiders will be looking to Mohamed Salah, as ever. The Egyptian King has three goals in his previous two outings. We go 13/5 that he opens the scoring.

But the hosts need to be wary of Jamie Vardy. He’s bagged in his last five appearances against Liverpool. In fact, only Andrew Cole (11) and Thierry Henry (8) have netter more top-flight goals against the Reds than Vardy (7). He’s 12/5 to add to his tally tonight.

Southampton v Crystal Palace (7:45pm)

With both sides on 22 points, three above the drop zone, neither can afford to lose this. Our traders have Saints as 11/8 favourites, though the draw is going for 11/5.

The last three league meetings between these sides at St Mary’s have each produced Over 2.5 Goals. There’s even-money about at least three goals again tonight.

Danny Ings is the likeliest scorer at 6/5 anytime, with Christian Benteke as Palace’s best hope at 12/5 to hit the back of the net.

Bournemouth v Chelsea (7:45pm)

Chelsea have already beaten Bournemouth twice this season without conceding a goal. They’re 6/10 favourites to win this one, or 19/10 for the Win to Nil.

Eden Hazard likes the taste of Cherries. He’s scored seven goals in his last eight appearances against Eddie Howe’s side. We go 6/5 for him to grab another one here. Gonzalo Higuain is also 6/5 to open his Chelsea account.

With Callum Wilson a doubt, Josh King looks likely to lead the line for Bournemouth. The Norway international is a 3/1 shot as an Anytime Goalscorer.

Tottenham v Watford (8:00pm)

After being knocked out of both domestic cups last week, Spurs can’t afford to lose ground in the top-four race.

However, they’ve not beaten Watford over 90 minutes in either of the two clashes between the sides so far this term.

Spurs are 8/13 to nab three crucial points, while you can get Watford or Draw at 5/4 in the Double Chance market.

Mauricio Pochettino is still without several key players, so Son Heung-Min’s return from international duty could make the difference here. The South Korea star may start on the bench, but he’s 7/2 to score the last goal.
