Arsenal v Napoli tips: Tough task for Gunners?

Published:
Alexandre Lacazette

Arsenal will be gunning to grab a vital first leg lead when they host Napoli tonight – especially given their poor recent away form.

Unai Emery’s men have lost just three times at home all season and will feel like confident they can snare the lead.

But their opponents are the competition’s 7/2 second favourites Napoli who are arguably the toughest test of the remaining sides and will require Arsenal to raise their game.

Can Arsenal grab a crucial first leg lead or will Napoli gun down the Gooners? We’ve got your odds and tips below…

Match Odds

Emery’s boys are 5/4 to grab victory, but it could be that they need to keep Napoli out to have a chance in this tie.

It’s 7/2  for Arsenal to win to nil, and 29/10 for a home win with both teams on the scoresheet.

Carlo Ancelotti will have Lorenzo Insigne back available which could turn the tie in Napoli’s favour.

We go Napoli to win with both sides hitting the onion bag at 4/1. Arsenal will be roared on by an expectant home crowd, so you could check out a 3-2 home win at 22/1.

Talking Tactics

Arsenal will be sweating on the fitness of both Granit Xhaka and club captain Laurent Koscielny, but will welcome Lucas Torreira back into the fold.

Emery has to decide whether to play with both Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil from the off – with the number ten role up for grabs.

As goals is the buzzword of the day, we could see both Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang starting up top.

Ancelotti has Insigne and striker Simone Verdi in the mix, but he might opt for a front-line of Arkadiusz Milik and Dries Mertens.

Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina is on loan at Napoli and could face his parent-club. Petr Cech may well retain his place in the sticks in the Europa League for the Gunners.

Goalscorer odds

Lacazette will surely remain as Arsenal’s number nine, you can find the Frenchman at 5/1 to break the deadlock and 9/5 anytime.

Aubameyang leads the way at 11/8 to score for the home side, but Aaron Ramsey could be a shout at 4/1 anytime.

We have Mertens and Milik to open the scoring at 6s and 5/1 respectively. Kalidou Koulibaly could be a real threat from set pieces, where 12/1 anytime might be worth a second look.
