PL Darts tips: In-form Cross to stay top of the table?

The eight remaining Premier League players are off to Merseyside this Thursday for week 10 in Liverpool.

Table-topping Rob Cross opens proceedings against Peter Wright, with Mensur Suljovic looking to keep his winning run going versus Gerwyn Price.

James Wade then takes on Daryl Gurney, before a rematch of last season’s World Championship Darts final between Michael Smith and the out-of-sorts Michael van Gerwen.

Rob Cross to beat Peter Wright

2018 world champion Cross is throwing some excellent arrows lately, and he’ll fancy his chances of downing Peter Wright in the opening game.

Voltage is 5/6 favourite after throwing a very handy 104 average in last week’s win over Daryl Gurney. He’s also won seven of his last 11 versus 11/5 outsider Snakebite.

The trebles could be flowing here. Both players love a maximum and there’s 6/5 about over 7.5 180s.

Wright’s only managed to win two games this season, despite drawing with Cross on the opening night in Newcastle, 3/1 says Cross is King of the Oche.

Gerwyn Price v Mensur Suljovic

Suljovic’s methodical play isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But it seems to be working with four wins from his last five games to move into third place.

He had Wade rattled last week, will the same happen to Gerywn Price in Liverpool? The Iceman has won 10 of 14 meetings with the Gentle, and gets the favouritism nod from our traders at 13/10.

The Austrian is right in the mix at 6/4 though, while a draw is 10/3.

Price certainly had the measure of Suljovic in Aberdeen, landing a 7-3 win. An 8-4 win for the Welshman is 11/1, while 8-3 is at 10s.

And having thrown more 180s than anyone else so far (35), 10/11 says Price hits more maximums than Suljovic.

James Wade v Daryl Gurney

Wade wasn’t happy against Suljovic last week. But he should be far more suited to the flowing arrows of Gurney.

Three wins on the spin has turned Superchin from elimination contender to play-off hopeful, although last week’s loss to Cross was a blow.

The Machine is favourite for this one at 11/10, with Gurney at 13/8. The head-to-head record reads five Wade wins to Gurney’s four, so this could be close.

But it should go Wade’s way, largely thanks to his superior finishing. The Aldershot arrowsmith is hitting 46% of his doubles in the competition, compared to Gurney’s 38.

11/2 says Wade takes it 8-5, with 8/1 about an 8-6 victory. He’s thrown 11 180s more than Gurney too, and is 7/5 to land the most maximums.

Michael Smith v Michael van Gerwen

Illness has hampered Michael Smith’s season, and the world championship runner-up is running out of time to make the play-offs.

But he might fancy his chances with Michael van Gerwen still looking some way shy of his best.

Our traders aren’t seeing much beyond the Green Machine though, with MVG 4/11 favourite. Bully Boy is 9/2 for a much-needed victory, with 5/1 about a draw.

MVG has won 16 of the last 18 meetings though, and if this goes to form, he’s 5/2 to be King of the Oche. There’s 9/2 about Van Gerwen to win 8-4.
