Ashes hopes to go up in flames for Bopara and Tremlett?

Ladbrokes have revealed the latest odds for England’s Ashes squad with heartache predicted for pace bowler Chris Tremlett and flamboyant batsman Ravi Bopara who at 2/1 are outside of the favourite 16 to get the call.

Monty Panesar at 1/4 looks set to take the back-up spinner position ahead of 7/2 James Tredwell and 10/1 Adil Rashid. Craig Kieswetter has drifted out to 7/1 behind 1/16 Steve Davies as number two to Prior (1/50).

Steve Harmison is a 16/1 long shot for a shock recall, with the bookies also offering 100/1 for Andrew Flintoff to overturn his retirement announcement and make an appearance in one of the tests.

Captain Andrew Strauss is 7/2 to be England’s top batsman, in form Graeme Swann 6/4 to be their top bowler and on home soil Australia are 8/13 slight favourites to regain the Urn .

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “England have had a settled squad for a while now but with a couple of places in the 16 still open to debate they’ll be some nervous phone calls being taken over the next 24hrs.”
