Audacious Ox bid from Chelsea bound to get Arsenal heckles up
Published:
If there was a Premier League award for Arsenal bating, there would be no point in assembling a panel to judge it, Jose Mourinho wins hands down.
Whether the ‘Aggravating One’ always keeps the necessary decorum is debatable, but Mourinho is so far under Arsene Wenger’s skin he’s hitting bone marrow.
His latest angle of attack actually comes in retaliation. As Ladbrokes’ odds of 4/9 quite clearly outline, Arsenal now look like being Petr Cech’s next destination.
Throughout the saga, the Blues boss has consistently reiterated his burning desire is to somehow keep the legendary Chelsea stopper at the club he loves, but by no means see him sold to a rival.
Now that this is beginning to look like a formality however, Mourinho wants recompense.
A recent quip from the three-time Premier League winning manager gave an inkling that he would be testing the resolve of any club interested in signing Cech.
Mourinho warned last month: “Every club that is interested in Petr, I can find a player that I like in that team too.”
In this case the notion has manifested itself as an audacious play at one of Arsenal’s brightest prospects, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, heading in the opposite direction.
The Daily Mirror report that Chelsea have made an inquiry over the England midfielder’s availability in a proposed cash + player exchange for their head-gear sporting stopper.
Predictably, this swoop has been greeted as impudent by the Gunners’ hierarchy, who have told the Blues in no uncertain terms to forget prising the Ox away from the Emirates.
