Azarenka to beat Stosur 2-0 almost free US Open money for punters
Published:Victoria Azarenka just loves playing Sam Stosur and the world number one can expect another romp over the defending US Open champion in the quarter finals this year.
The pair have met six times in the past, with Azarenka winning them all 2-0 and this makes 4/6 smashing value on a straight-set triumph for the Belarusian here.
Azarenka has dropped just 13 games in her last four victories over Stosur and the most recent was a quick-fire 6-1, 6-2 success in a final in Doha earlier in the season.
Meanwhile, she has conceded only ten games in winning her opening four matches at Flushing Meadow this year.
Stosur must find a way of mixing up her serve and taking the pace off her returns if she is to have any chance of going one step closer to defending her US Open crown, as this looks the only way of preventing a barrage of Azarenka passing shots.
In another of the quarter finals, it is somewhat surprising that Maria Sharapova is a shorter price at 1/6 to beat Marion Bartoli than Azarenka is at 1/4 to beat Stosur.
It is true that Sharapova has won all of their four career matches in straight sets, but Bartoli does at least have a chance of victory if getting things right.
The areas where Sharapova has a slight advantage are on the forehand and slightly with her first serve, but both may misfire.
If this happens, Bartoli can capitalise, especially if repeating the form that saw her drop just two games in the final two sets in beating Petra Kvitova in the last round.
Bartoli is certainly a value bet at 4/1 and this punt may prove lucrative.
