Barney the pick of a four-way darts accumulator

The Ladbrokes World Championships continue at Alexandra Palace tonight and with all the favourites looking good to progress into the next round, backing the four short-priced fancies to do the business on the ockie looks like a good call.

Raymond van Barneveld begins his campaign against 22-year-old Welshman Jamie ‘Rasta’ Lewis, and putting the Dutchman in an accumulator with Jelle Klaasen, Dave ‘Chizzy’ Chisnall and Colin Osborne could pay dividends.

The odds of all four coming through unscathed is over 2.5/1, which looks like a decent price given the unlikelihood of there being any upsets.

Last night had its fair share of excitement, with Terry Jenkins and Kyle Anderson both hitting nine dart finishes yet ending up losing both of their respective matches, Jenkins suffering a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to the hands of qualifier Per Laursen and Anderson losing to Ian White.

But if there isn’t any such drama tonight then that will suit the acca, which has the look of a good thing.

‘Barney’ is as short as 1/10 to see off Lewis, and with the number ten seed talking up his chances of winning the entire tournament – “I’m a five-time World champion, but I want number six. I keep dreaming about it, everyone knows what I can do” he said – the Dutchman shouldn’t have any trouble progressing to the next round.

Osborne, who received a late call-up after Philippines Qualifier Edward Santos was forced to withdraw from the preliminary round draw, is 1/5 to beat Denmark’s Dennis Lindskjold and the former Championship League Darts winner and UK Open finalist should have too much and set up a mouthwatering meeting with big-scoring Gary Anderson in round two.

Klaasen has the toughest match on paper as takes on the talented Jamie Caven in the last match of the evening, as odds of just 4/6 on the man form the Netherlands suggest.

Still, he should be able to get the better of Caven and set up a meeting with his fellow countryman van Barneveld in the second round.

Chisnall opens the session against John Henderson, and at 1/5 makes up the four timer.
