FA Cup final 2024/25: Crystal Palace vs Manchester City betting tips
Published:
Ahead of the 2024/25 FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Man City, the experts at Ladbrokes share their top betting tips.
As City prepare for their third final in as many seasons, looking to lift the famous trophy for the eighth time, Crystal Palace are dreaming of their first ever major trophy.
Below are Ladbrokes' top betting tips for this season's FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Man City on May 17, with the bookies backing Eberiche Eze to maintain his fine form and score at Wembley.
Ladbrokes' top betting tips for Crystal Palace vs Man City
Crystal Palace to win over 4.5 corners
While they may not be favourites with the bookies to clinch their first ever FA Cup, Crystal Palace are sure to give Man City a serious test at Wembley on Saturday, with set pieces likely to be an effective route to goal for the Eagles.
Palace have only won fewer than 4.5 corners in one of their last five matches, and with the aerial threat of Jean-Philippe Mateta, Chris Richards and Maxence Lacroix, every corner they do win will bring real danger to the City backline - who felt the full force of this in both Premier League meetings this season.
With Eze and Sarr operating as narrow wingers behind Mateta, allowing space for the wing backs to bomb forward, a large amount of Palace's play comes from the wide areas, leading to crosses and through balls that will often be deflected for a corner - so Ladbrokes is backing Oliver Glasner's side to win a fair few at Wembley.
Bernardo Silva to be carded
As Bernardo Silva's Manchester City career has developed, the diminutive Portuguese midfielder has often dropped back into a more combative role, forcing him into making more tackles - and with the quality of Palace's midfield, we think Silva could be caught out on a couple of occasions, picking up a booking.
In all competitions this season, Bernardo Silva averages a yellow card roughly every six games, and with him likely being tasked with breaking up Palace's central play, he's going to be right at the heart of the action.
Man City have actually been shown the fewest yellow cards across all 20 Premier League teams this season, but Bernardo Silva himself has racked up 12.5% of those, so it isn't rare to see him in the book. Therefore, in such a high stakes game and with so much responsibility in the middle of the park, Ladbrokes is backing the City man to pick up a yellow card here.
Eberechi Eze to score anytime
This fixture always promises goals, with each of the last four meetings between these two sides seeing a minimum of four goals - and both teams scoring at least two in every one of those games.
We're backing this trend to continue, with plenty of goal-mouth action at both ends, and Ladbrokes thinks Eberechi Eze will build on his excellent run of goalscoring form and find the net at Wembley - just as he did in Crystal Palace's stunning semi-final victory over Aston Villa.
The England midfielder has five goals in his last four matches, and with three goals already in this season's FA Cup, it would be fitting for the Palace star to make his mark on the final too. City's defence has been strong of late, conceding just one goal in five games, but with Eze oozing confidence, we're tipping him to show his quality in front of goal once again.
Manchester City to win in regular time
Finally, the big one - Ladbrokes is tipping favourites Man City to get the job done inside 90 minutes and lift the FA Cup once again.
With FA Cup finals often being cagey affairs, it won't be a surprise if this game does require extra time, but with City's experience at this stage and the sheer quality of their squad, they should have too much for Crystal Palace in regular time this weekend.
City are unbeaten in their last seven games against Crystal Palace, and while three of those matches have ended all square, the wins have often been comprehensive, scoring four or more goals in three of those seven meetings. We don't expect a rout at Wembley, but we do expect Pep Guardiola to get his hands on a third FA Cup without too much fuss.
