Boris opens up at just 2/1 to win 2016 London Mayoral Election

BORIS JOHNSON is just 2/1 with Ladbrokes to win the 2016 London Mayoral Election.

In anticipation of a win for Boris this year, the firm have gone up with their ante-post list for the next election and make Johnson the clear favourite. David Lammy is next in the betting at 16/1, while Lord Coe is just a 25/1 chance.

The bookies are also less keen to underestimate independent candidate Siobhan Benita, quoting her at just 50/1 in comparison to the 1000/1 she started off at last time. Eddie Izzard and Ken Livingstone have both been given 25/1 quotes and among the 100/1 outsiders Tony Blair and David Beckham are surely those of most interest.

Bob Crow is last in the betting at 200/1 at this early stage.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “It looks like we’re set for up to eight more years of Boris. He’s the hot favourite to win in 2016 with no clear opposition at this stage.”

He added: “The odds suggest Labour will put someone else in to bat next time. David Lammy would be an interesting runner and his odds would surely tumble upon confirmation.”
