Brighton v Man City betting tips and odds

Manchester City are back in Premier League action at Brighton on Saturday night after a superb Champions League victory at Club Brugge during the week.

Riyad Mahrez bagged a double and teenager Cole Palmer scored a couple of minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in a 5-1 victory in Belgium.

Pep Guardiola’s side are 4/9 favourites to beat the Seagulls but let’s look at some of the other odds in our Brighton v Man City betting tips.

Match Odds

Brighton have made a terrific start to the new season and before Saturday’s game were just one spot and two points behind third-placed City in the table.

In April, the Seagulls fought back from two goals down to beat 10-man City 3-2 and are priced at 7/1 to repeat that win while a draw can be backed at 17/5.

City had won their previous seven meetings prior to that defeat at the Amex Stadium, with six of those victories coming by at least two goals which can be backed at 6/5.

Five of their seven wins came without conceding and having kept a Premier League-high six clean sheets this season, the visitors are 5/4 to win to nil in our Brighton v Man City betting tips.

Graham Potter’s side drew 0-0 with Arsenal and Norwich in their last two outings and that was the outcome when City met Southampton last month.

Goals are usually in short supply in games involving Brighton, so we go 5/2 on City winning either 1-0 or 2-0 while another goalless draw is 11/1.

Talking Tactics

Guardiola left Raheem Sterling out of the starting XI once again for the game in Belgium, although the winger came on in the second half and set up Palmer’s first Champions League goal.

The Spaniard made three changes to the side that had beaten Burnley 2-0 last weekend but Mahrez retained his place while Jack Grealish was recalled with Phil Foden playing in a central role up front, although he frequently dropped deep.

City will play in their usual fluid 4-3-3 formation while Brighton are likely to play three at the back as they normally do, with Neal Maupay potentially the sole striker although Leandro Trossard played up front in a 3-5-2 in the goalless draw with Norwich.

Goalscorer Odds

Gabriel Jesus, Foden, Sterling and Mahrez are all 9/2 to break the deadlock but roving full-back Joao Cancelo is 18/1 to get the first goal as he did on Tuesday night.

The Portuguese is 13/2 to get on the scoresheet while Kyle Walker, who netted City’s third goal in Belgium, is 14/1 to find the net in back-to-back games.

Grealish and Rodri had goals disallowed and are 21/10 and 6/1 respectively to breach Brighton’s defence in our Brighton v Man City betting tips.

Despite being fourth in the table, Brighton have scored just eight goals in their eight games, half of which have come from Maupay who is 9/1 and 7/2 in the two markets.

Dan Burn and Trossard scored in last season’s fixture and are 9/2 and 28/1 to repeat the feat.
