Cardiff vs Blackburn: in-form Bluebirds can soar against Rovers
Published:It’s been a difficult couple of seasons for Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds have suffered Championship play-off heartache in the previous two years and their precarious financial situation was a genuine concern not so long ago.
However, they have been flying in recent weeks and Malky Mackay has got his new-look side to within three points of the automatic promotion places.
Blackburn Rovers’ problems are very much in the here and now though and this looks the best chance for a Championship side to make it through…
Match odds
Everything is pointing to this game being an extremely tight encounter with Rovers out at 15/8 to win the game and hosts Cardiff currently 7/5 to progress in 90 minutes.
Although the teams are separated by a division, Championship side Cardiff look far more likely to win this game.
They have been in brilliant form and have not lost in eight games, winning six.
The Bluebirds have lost just once at home this term – a 3-1 defeat to Brighton back in August – and look well worth backing in this game.
If you fancy Rovers to stop the rot somewhat, then they can be backed to get a draw after 90 minutes at 23/10 and are 1/1 to progress.
Goal markets
Cardiff have not conceded a goal in their three previous games at Cardiff City Stadium.
However, despite their lowly league position, Blackburn have been smashing in the goals away from Ewood Park and have hit seven in their previous three matches.
Unfortunately for Steve Kean, they’ve conceded nine in the same period and goals look a certainty this Tuesday night.
Backing over 3.5 goals looks well worth considering – especially as all of Rovers’ Carling Cup games this term have yielded at least four strikes.
