Carling Cup: Aldershot should pose no problems for favourites Man Utd
Published:Manchester United’s position as Carling Cup favourites is looking more and more sure after they were drawn against League Two side Aldershot in the Carling Cup fourth round.
United have now come in to 11/4 to win the Carling Cup for a third time in four years while their opponents – who have already seen off West Ham United in the cup this year – are out at 300/1 to win the trophy.
Things are rather trickier for 4/1 second favourites Manchester City who face a tough trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Wolves have beaten City on two of their previous three visits to Molineux and are 25/1 to see off City and go all the way to lift the trophy at Wembley.
Chelsea and Arsenal are both out at 6/1, although the Gunners are looking the more tempting bet at the moment with a game at home to Bolton awaiting them, while the Blues have to travel to Everton for their fourth round game.
Chelsea haven’t beaten Everton since their FA Cup final clash in 2009 and the Toffees are out at 14/1 to win their first ever League Cup trophy.
Their Merseyside rivals Liverpool have a similarly tricky task against a Stoke side who look decent value at 16/1 to win the tournament.
The Reds were defeated by Stoke a fortnight ago and haven’t won at the Britannia since the Potters’ return to the top flight.
Liverpool are out at 6/1 to win the Carling Cup.
