Celtic will emerge victorious in tight clash with Rangers

Published:

The last Old Firm derby with the two teams in different divisions sees Premiership leaders Celtic take on Ladbrokes Scottish Championship winners Rangers.

Ronny Delia’s men have face from below the top tier this season and have emerged victorious on all of these occasions without conceding a single goal.

This suggests they should have enough to beat their old enemy who, despite looking so strong in the Championship, are still a division below their Glasgow neighbours.

However, it won’t be a straightforward affair for the Bhoys and you can expect to see the Gers find the net.

The Hoops have only kept two clean sheets in their last five outings and their 3-1 loss to Ross County shows they can be vulnerable in cup competitions.

Furthermore, Rangers have looked very strong in front of goal this season and it would be foolish to expect them not to trouble Craig Gordon’s goal.

The Scottish Championship winners have only failed to score in one outing across all competitions this term, a 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock back in February.

Indeed, Mark Warburton’s side have scored 21 times in their last seven fixtures, with James Tavernier in particularly strong form.

The right-back has registered a strike in three of his sides last four games, bringing his total for the season to 14.

He has insisted that he will not give up his attacking duties against Celtic, insisting their is ‘no chance’ of that happening and can be backed at 11/2 to score at any time.

However, the loss Rangers suffered at the hands of St Johnstone in the League Cup shows they are susceptible against top-flight opposition.

They did manage to score in that 3-1 defeat and that is why it would make sense to back Celtic to win and both teams to score at 21/10.
