Atletico got to the quarters-final of last year's Champions League, and they'll be hoping to go one further come the spring of 2025 by reaching the semi-finals, potentially even the final.
The Spanish club brought in some top talent in the summer, with the hope being that the new players will drag Atletico back to the top of domestic and European football.

The big signings are Julian Alvarez, who joins from Man City, as well as Conor Gallagher, who has arrived in Spain from Chelsea.

Atletico Madrid's 2024/25 Champions League starting 11
As has been the case for a decade now, Jan Oblak starts as Atletico's goalkeeper for the forthcoming Champions League campaign, with Marcos Llorente, Jose Gimenez, Clement Lenglet and Javi Galan playing ahead of him, but expect Robin Le Normand to come back in when he's fit and back from injury.
The midfield duo consists of the ever-hard-working Conor Gallagher and Pablo Barrios, with Rodrigo De Paul also able to come in and play when needed.
Giuliano Simeone, the son of manager Diego, plays as one of the attackers alongside Samuel Lino, Alvarez and star man Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid's Champions League odds
The bookies have given Atletico Madrid just shy of a 5% chance of winning this season's Champions League, with the same odds as Bayer Leverkusen.
The favourites for the competition are Liverpool though, with the bookies seeing them as the most likely to win the UCL come May 2025.
Atletico Madrid's Champions League fixtures
Atletico's September 18 game aaw them kick off their Champions League campaign this season against RB Leipzig at home, with that game ending in a 2-1 win. Next up was an away game against Benfica on October 2, which ended in a humiliating 4-0 loss.
October 23 saw Atletico lose 3-1 to Lille, before November 6 saw the Spanish club travel to Paris to face another French side, this time in the form of PSG, beating them 2-1.

Game five for Atletico in the competition saw Diego Simeone's side trash Sparta Prague 6-0 away from home on November 26, with the club's final Champions League game of 2024 beat Slovan Bratislava 3-1 at home on December 11.
In 2025, Bayer Leverkusen travelled to Atletico on January 21, with the Spanish side winning 2-1. That came before last season's quarter-finalists beat Red Bull Salzburg 4-1 in Austria on January 29.
Atletico Madrid were drawn against Real Madrid in the round of 16 but that proved to be the end of the road for Diego Simeone's men, with Los Blancos saw off their Madrid rivals on penalties to progress.
