Liverpool's 2024/25 Champions League starting 11

As for the starting 11, Alisson Becker has played in goal whenever he's fit, but has someone who has been plagued with a very few injury issues over the season so far, Caoimhín Kelleher has featured a fair amount too.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Roberton, Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate make up the rest of the defence, but injuries to certain members of the squad, and the need for rotation, means Jarrel Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas have also featured.

The midfield three sees Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and one of Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones featuring regularly. Harvey Elliot and Wataru Endo are more than capable of coming in and making an impact if selected, but they haven't been as of yet.

Liverpool's forward line is electric, and a lot of that is because of the incredible depth that the 2020 Premier League winners have on their books. Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo will rotate on the left, with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota trading minutes through the middle, but Slot has shown a willingness to play Diaz there too when needed.

It's hard to see a world where Mohamed Salah doesn't play whenever fit, but with new signing Federico Chiesa, Liverpool have a very able deputy if needed.

Liverpool's Champions League odds

Liverpool are the favourites to win the Premier League come the end of the season, and the bookies also have the Reds as the front-runners to win the UCL for the seventh time.

The Reds favourites to win the Champions League, and should the draw in the latter stages go their way, there's no reason that Slot and co won't be there or there abouts come May.

To put things into context, the bookies have given Liverpool greater odds than Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, with the Reds seen as more likely to win the UCL next year than anyone else.

Liverpool kicked off their Champions League campaign this season again AC Milan, another of the competition's most decorated clubs. The game took place at the San Siro on September 17, with Slot's side winning 3-1.

It was two games against Italian clubs in a matter of weeks, as on October 2, Liverpool beat Bologna 2-0 at Anfield in Slot's first home European game in charge of the club, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Alexis Mac Allister.

RB Leipzig hosted Liverpool on October 23, with a Darwin Nunez goal in a 1-0 victory making it three wins out of a possible three. Two weeks later, the Reds faced another German side, this time beating Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 at Anfield on November 5.

It was another big game up next, as Liverpool played at Anfield once again on November 27, this time beating Real Madrid 2-0 in a replay from their 2022 Champions League final, their first victory over Los Blancos since 2009.

It was back-to-back matches against Spanish clubs for the Reds, as on December 10 they faced Girona away from home in their final UCL game of 2024, winning 1-0 in a game that ended up being much harder than it should have been.

Things kicked off again in 2025, with Liverpool beating Lille 2-1 January 21 before travelling to PSV in the Netherlands to close things out on January 29.

The Reds had guaranteed themselves a top two finish, so opted to play rotation and youth players against the reigning Dutch champions, which explains the 3-2 loss they suffered in their final 'league phase' game.

It was then heartbreak for the Reds who were knocked out of the competition on penalties at the last 16 stage at the hands of PSG, who immediately became the favourites for the competition as a result.
