Thiago Silva now 50/1 for Chelsea manager job

Thiago Silva is currently 50/1 with the bookies to become Chelsea's next manager, taking over from Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea ended the season incredibly well under Pochettino, with fans and pundits tipping the former Spurs boss to lead the Blues back into the Champions League places next season, so news of his departure from the club came as a big surprise to many.

Kieran McKenna of Ipswich is the favourite to take over from Pochettino and become Chelsea's next manager, but the bookies have shared the odds for Todd Boehly plucking something out of left-field and making one of his former players, Thiago Silva, the club's next boss.

Thiago Silva to become Chelsea's next manager

Silva confirmed towards the end of the 2023/24 season that he'd be leaving Chelsea at the end of the campaign to return to Brazil, but stated in an emotional social media video that he hopes to return to the club in the future.

However, could it happen a lot sooner than Silva would have anticipated?

The Brazilian defender, who hasn't actually retired yet, is 50/1 with Ladbrokes to become Chelsea's next manager, ahead of former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, with the bookies clearly feeling Silva is more likely to take over from Pochettino than the 2020 Premier League winner.

It's worth noting that Silva is by no means the favourite for the job, but stranger things have most definitely happened in football.

Chelsea aren't the only club in the market for a new manager, with INEOS potentially looking at sacking Erik ten Hag following the FA Cup final, which many are expecting them to lose to Man City for the second year running.

Should Ten Hag be let go, Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to return to the Premier League and manage Man United, with Gareth Southgate also in the running.
