Christian Fuchs lifts lid on shocking news after Leicester move

Leicester City legend, Christian Fuchs, lifts lid on shocking news after King Power move whilst speaking exclusively with Ladbrokes.
- "I feel like there's this really big burden on me at the moment - I'm not talking once a month, but this happens once a day - at least - in the US, when I'm over there... every day I'm asked if I'm Ryan Reynolds!"
- "I sat down, and he told me Nigel Pearson was gone; he was sacked. It was such a strange feeling, because this was the guy who had signed me, and explained all of his ideas, and what he thought about me, just a few weeks ago... and so when it came to the next manager, you know, I had no idea what they were going to think of me. He could have had completely different ideas, and all of a sudden I was sat there, on a three-year contract, and I might not even be part of the new guy's plans! And that's exactly how it happened, initially!"
- "We talk a lot about the 2015-16 season, and Ranieri should take a lot of credit for what he did that year, but the key thing he did, from the very first moment, was nothing. After one week, we had a meeting, and I went in, thinking he was going to give us his input. But the biggest credit you need to give to him - as a very humble person - is that he was adamant he wasn't going to change anything."
- "So, then you have to go back and look at the reason why things were so good, and the reason why Ranieri didn't want to change anything... and that leads you back to Nigel Pearson. You've got to give him credit for the title win as well, because it was basically his team, that he'd put together. I always say he should be mentioned in that success."
- [Christmas during title-winning season] "That's what Leicester is, and was. Not only was it about the grind, and the hard work, we also knew that we needed to have fun, together, and take our minds off what was happening on the pitch. That way we'd be fresh in our minds, to come back and perform even better."

Honestly... I'm asked every day if I'm Ryan Reynolds!
I feel like there's this really big burden on me at the moment - I'm not talking once a month, but this happens once a day - at least - in the US, when I'm over there... every day I'm asked if I'm Ryan Reynolds! Literally, every single day I get asked "hey, are you Ryan Reynolds?" It doesn't help that he's recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, which is where I am!
It could be worse, I suppose... definitely! But in terms of who should play me in a Leicester City movie, it's Ryan Reynolds... 100%!
I couldn't believe what happened as soon as I signed for Leicester...
When I was signing for Leicester, I was sold the Great Escape story, from the previous season. It was all about how well the team had performed in the final few months of that season. It was a very awkward situation for me, though, because I was playing for Schalke in Germany, in a team who were qualifying for the Champions League every year - that was our target, and the expectation. And then I was coming to Leicester City, who had barely escaped relegation.
But in my first conversation with Nigel Pearson, he spoke so much about how he felt I was going to fit into the first-team, how he sees me playing, what his expectations were, all of this kind of thing. I was really happy with things. Then I went on holiday, and I can remember this all like it was yesterday. I was standing at a bar in Antigua, with my wife, and I had a call from my agent...
"Do you have somewhere to sit down?"
I sat down, and he told me Nigel Pearson was gone; he was sacked. It was such a strange feeling, because this was the guy who had signed me, and explained all of his ideas, and what he thought about me, just a few weeks ago. You know, I was coming to a new club, because of this guy, and now he was gone. And so when it came to the next manager, you know, I had no idea what they were going to think of me. He could have had completely different ideas, and all of a sudden I was sat there, on a three-year contract, and I might not even be part of the new guy's plans! And that's exactly how it happened, initially! I started the season on the bench, and played a few minutes here and there in the first seven games or so. Then, finally, we flew to Norwich and I had my first start, and the rest is history.
It was all just a strange moment of uncertainty for me, when Claudio Ranieri was appointed. You know, was he really going to fit a club like Leicester City? I guess different pulls attract each other, and it all ended up working out in the end!
We talk a lot about the 2015-16 season, and Ranieri should take a lot of credit for what he did that year, but the key thing he did, from the very first moment, was nothing. You know, he came in, and in that first week, he just wanted to observe. That was all he wanted to do. After one week, we had a meeting, and I went in, thinking he was going to give us his input. But the biggest credit you need to give to him - as a very humble person - is that he was adamant he wasn't going to change anything. He said it looked really good, and he was happy with everything.
So, then you have to go back and look at the reason why things were so good, and the reason why Ranieri didn't want to change anything... and that leads you back to Nigel Pearson. You've got to give him credit for the title win as well, because it was basically his team, that he'd put together. I always say he should be mentioned in that success.
Christmas at Leicester during title-winning season
We always had Christmas dos at Leicester. Regardless of where we were in the table... we always went to Denmark. I know back in 2015 there was a lot of news coverage around that, because people couldn't really believe what we were doing. But that's what Leicester is, and was. Not only was it about the grind, and the hard work, we also knew that we needed to have fun, together, and take our minds off what was happening on the pitch. That way we'd be fresh in our minds, to come back and perform even better. That was the big thing at the club, and everybody enjoyed what we were doing, on and off the pitch.
Look, we never saw ourselves in a position where we were going to win the title race, even up until the final whistle in the Chelsea v Tottenham game. We didn't see ourselves as title contenders. We were a very humble group, very grounded and down to earth.
The Christmas period was great - very busy, but great. I think the only game we lost around that time was away at Liverpool, 1-0. Other than that, it was a really strong period. We enjoyed being together, and grinding those results out. You know, they called us the anti-Barcelona, because we didn't have possession, but we were effective when we did have the ball.
