CSKA Moscow v Arsenal: Gunners can pounce on poor home record

Published:

It’s been far from plain sailing this season for Arsenal. But they head into the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against CSKA Moscow in good form, and with a 4-1 advantage.

The Gunners are hunting a seventh straight win in all competitions, and have racked up 18 goals over the previous six matches. And they face a Moscow side who have been anything but consistent at home – losing four of the last 11 at VEB Arena.

The odds make it 6/5 for an Arsenal win on the night, while the draw is 5/2 and it’s 19/10 for a CSKA victory.

The first leg produced a hefty five goals, and the pair’s respective form points to another high-scoring clash. Each of CSKA’s last six games have seen three or more goals, as have all of Arsenal’s previous five. It’s 6/10 for Over 2.5 Goals tonight.

As regards longer shots, each of the North London club’s last two games have seen both sides net before the break. It’s 14/5 for Both Teams to Score in First Half.

So, who could be adding to their season’s tally in the Russian capital?

Danny Welbeck has netted four in four for the Gunners – and bagged a brace against Southampton on Sunday. The 27-year-old is 13/10 to Score Anytime and 11/2 to bag Two or More.

Meanwhile, it’s 21/10 for first-leg hero Aaron Ramsey to find the net, and the same price about CSKA’s in-form Pontus Wernbloom getting on the scoresheet.

As well as a 4-1 scoreline in the first leg, fellow Premier League side Manchester United also won 4-1 at CSKA in the Champions League earlier this season. For those who think history could repeat itself, another 4-1 Gunners victory is 33/1.
