Dan Skelton: Le Milos looks fantastic for Coral Gold Cup
Published:
Leading trainer and Ladbrokes ambassador Dan Skelton previews Saturday’s 11 runners, including his hopes for the Coral Gold Cup at Newbury.
Skelton enjoyed a 4/1 winner in the Coral Racing Club Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Newbury on Friday and a 22/1 success with Solomoon at Doncaster, but can he deliver again?

He pulled a muscle last time at Cheltenham. I have done loads with him since but I think he might improve a bit as we had to go steady with him for ten days after Cheltenham.
This is a very competitive race. I think she will improve a good bit for this run but she has some nice form as a hurdler. She has had to have some time off for injury.
He showed a bit first time out over fences. I’ve given him plenty of time to get over his run at Fontwell and He shouldn’t be inconvenienced by this ground. He wants a trip.
He hasn’t shown enough in novice hurdles to date to think he’d be a player here really.
We won this race last year with Elle Est Belle. She’s A Saint won by a big distance at Hexham and ran really well at Newbury last time. A similar run should see her pick up some black type.
She was second in the Challow Hurdle last year, which is pretty fancy form. As long as the ground is on the slow side, she will definitely be a player here. She has had an away day and we really like this mare.
He’s been running consistently and won a Listed race at Kempton first time out. I have a feeling he might want two and a half miles but this is worth £50,000 and it is for horses like him so let’s have a go.
He won a very good novice hurdle at Chepstow, which was a very deep race. He ran in novices last year without winning but he has a bit of experience and I’d like to think he will be very competitive.
He is in great form at home. I am super happy with him. He looks fantastic and has come out of Bangor brilliantly. He has a 4lb penalty for that but I think he told us more than 4lb worth of information, if I’m honest.

He won on real soft ground that day but he has past form on decent ground. He’s out of a King’s Theatre mare and I’m not sure the ground should be an inconvenience.
I have done loads of work with him but I don’t think the ground is going to be soft enough. All his form last year was on really slow ground.
He’s been off a while after giving himself a little bang on a hock when he fell at Ayr in the spring. I can see him improving for the run.
